Maiduguri Floods: Police Re-arrest Escaped Convict In Borno

The Borno State Police Command has re-arrested Auwalu Aminu, also known as Auwalu Kirkir, a 24-year-old convict who escaped from a correctional facility during the recent flooding that inundated Maiduguri.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, announced this in a statement on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, revealing that Aminu was apprehended in Banki town following a credible tip-off.

“Auwalu Aminu, who was serving a jail term for criminal conspiracy and theft at the Medium Security Custodian Center in Maiduguri, unfortunately escaped due to the devastating flood incident in September 2024, which collapsed the fence of the facility,” the statement noted.

“The police patrol swiftly responded and apprehended the said Auwalu Aminu.

“The convict has been profiled and will be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service for further action.
