Court Orders Verydarkman To Remove ‘Defamatory’ Posts About Falana

Justice M.O. Dawodu of an Ikeja High Court has issued an interim order prohibiting social critic Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, from further disseminating or publishing any defamatory videos or comments regarding legal expert Femi Falana.

On Monday, October 14, the presiding judge ruled on an ex parte application, directing VeryDarkMan to remove “defamatory comments and videos” about Falana from all his social media platforms.

In the ruling, the judge also permitted the Falanas to serve court documents to VeryDarkMan through his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju. The court mandated that Falana has 14 days to submit a pre-action bundle to VDM’s lawyer, and ordered VDM to delete any defamatory posts against Falana within the same 14-day period.

On September 24, VDM released a purported audio recording of a conversation between Bobrisky and a male friend, in which Bob claimed to have spoken with Falz while he was in prison, alleging that Falz and his father, Femi Falana, SAN, attempted to secure him a presidential pardon for a fee of N10 million.

VDM expressed his disapproval of Falz and his father for associating with Bobrisky, even questioning if Falz “dey do,” a comment some interpreted as questioning Falz’s sexuality.

The Falanas have since denied any involvement in assisting Bobrisky with a presidential pardon. Falz confirmed in a statement from his father’s chambers on September 25 that Bobrisky contacted him on May 4 to request N3 million for a VIP section in prison, which he refused. Falz contended that VDM’s comments misrepresented him as a homosexual, undermined justice, and depicted him as a phony human rights activist without seeking his perspective.

Femi Falana also denied any communication or dealings with Bobrisky, asserting that his chambers never charges for securing a presidential pardon....Read Full Article [Click Here>]

Both Falz and Femi Falana have demanded a retraction and apology from VDM, who has refused, maintaining that he did not defame them and plans to contest the matter in court.
