CP Aboki Danjuma, the Commissioner of Police for Imo State, has instructed the Assistant Commissioner of Police overseeing the IGP X-Squad to thoroughly investigate serious allegations made against members of the Command’s Anti-Narcotics Unit and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Owerri by Young C Entertainment.
In a viral video, Young C recounted that on October 11, he and his crew traveled from Port Harcourt to Owerri for a movie shoot and were advised to use prop money due to security concerns. After the shoot, they were stopped and searched by members of the Anti-Narcotics Unit, who discovered the prop money.
Young C claimed the officers arrested them and demanded N1.5 million for their release. He stated that his explanations about being actors using prop money fell on deaf ears, as the officers allegedly took them to their office and detained them for 24 hours.
He also reported that the officers seized their phones and barred them from contacting family, lawyers, or production crew members. Young C noted that when his lawyer eventually arrived, the police demanded N300,000 for their release, which they refused to pay.
He further alleged that many Nigerians are being detained by the unit for trivial reasons and called on the IGP to investigate the officers involved. Young C threatened to pursue legal action against those who unlawfully detained him and his crew.
In a statement, ASP Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the state police command, confirmed that the Commissioner of Police has ordered an investigation and assured the public that any officer found guilty will face disciplinary action per the Force’s regulations, with additional sanctions for the supervising officer.
“Meanwhile, the complainant and his film production crew are encouraged to report to the IGP X-Squad in Owerri to assist in the investigation process. The Imo State Police Command remains committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of citizens,” Okoye stated....Read Full Article [Click Here>]
