Endangered Leatherback Sea Turtle Released Into The Ocean After Being Caught In A Fisherman’s Net In Bayelsa

An endangered leatherback sea turtle was released back into the ocean at Opu-Okumbiri in the Akassa Clan of Bayelsa State.

The turtle, measuring over 5 feet in length, was caught in a fisherman’s net, prompting the fisherman to alert team members of the Safe Earth Foundation, who quickly took action.

It is believed that there are less than 40,000 leatherback sea turtles left in the world.
