In the Jol community of the Riyom local government area, gunmen have gone on a rampage, resulting in the death of a pregnant woman and injuries to two others. A statement from the National Body of Berom Youths Moulder Association (BYM), signed by its National President, Barrister Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, detailed the attack on Davou and Favour Raymond.
The couple was riding a motorcycle along Sho to Jol Road around 3:00 PM on Thursday after returning from an antenatal clinic in Sho when they were ambushed by suspected Fulani terrorists.
Favour Raymond tragically lost her life in the attack, while her husband sustained various injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. Additionally, Mr. Dachollom Biri from the Daku community was attacked by another group of gunmen while returning home to Vwak, where internally displaced persons from Daku are sheltered, and he has also been rushed to the hospital.
BYM expressed concern over the recent disruptions to peace in the area, warning that if the situation is not addressed, it could escalate into widespread violence affecting not only Jol but also neighboring villages and local government areas....Read Full Article [Click Here>]
“This is why the BYM is calling on the people of Jol, not only to bear the irreparable loss meted out on them, but also to exercise usual restraint and patience, more so that security agents are on the ground, and have called for restraint and calmness to enable them to carry out a discreet investigation,” the statement read.
The association urged that farming and other activities be temporarily suspended until adequate security measures are established and advised residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security personnel.
