Continued Exodus from PDP as Members Defect to APC in Kogi

The decline of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State continues unabated as numerous members have switched allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). In Ogori Magongo Local Government Area of the central senatorial district, a wave of defections has left the PDP reeling.

Ahead of the 2024 state congress, the PDP has witnessed mass resignations from key members and stakeholders across the state. On Wednesday, prominent PDP figures in Ogori Magongo defected to the APC, citing alleged irresponsible and oppressive leadership within the PDP at the local and central levels.

Notable defectors include former party secretary Hon. Awe David, Hon. Tito Asoye, and political heavyweight Hon. Roland Omoshoro, along with their supporters. Hon. A concerned PDP member who requested anonymity lamented the defections, attributing them to poor party leadership. “The PDP has become a private club for a few individuals who have exploited its popularity,” the supporter said. “Party members are treated with disdain and disrespect.”
