PDP Governors Back Fubara, Condemn Edo Election Interference

During their meeting in Jalingo, the Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reiterated their support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State despite the ongoing dispute with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

The governors have urged the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to review the proceedings of the recent party congress in which Fubara was excluded. They demand that Fubara be granted his rightful place within the party’s leadership.

In a communiqué released after the meeting, the PDP governors expressed concern over the use of court judgments to determine the outcome of party congresses in Rivers State. They affirmed their support for Fubara and vowed to engage with the NWC to rectify the situation.

Regarding the upcoming Edo State governorship election, the governors condemned President Bola Tinubu’s alleged attempts to influence the process in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC). They criticized the intimidation of PDP supporters by the Nigeria Police and demanded that the Inspector General of Police intervene.

The PDP governors also voiced concerns over the federal government’s reliance on blackmail and called for a review of macroeconomic and social policies to alleviate the suffering of the Nigerian masses. Additionally, the governors expressed apprehension over the federal government’s failure to distinguish between federal and federation revenue. They emphasized the need to adhere to Section 162 of the Constitution and separate the roles of the Accountant General of the Federation and the Accountant General of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The communiqué demanded transparency from the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Accountant General of the Federation in obeying the law and called for the separation of the two offices. The PDP governors reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Nigerian people and taking steps to improve their well-being.
