BREAKING: PDP Identifies Faults in Tinubu’s Independence Day Speech

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 64th Independence Day speech, labeling it as “lethargic and windy rhetoric” laden with misleading performance claims.

In a statement from National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, the PDP highlighted that the President’s address failed to tackle Nigeria’s pressing economic and security issues.

The PDP described the speech as “scripted to delude Nigerians” amidst what it considers the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration’s failures.

It pointed out that Tinubu overlooked urgent matters such as rampant economic hardship, unemployment, and widespread hunger, asserting that his claim that only 10% of Nigerians face hunger is far from reality, with over 100 million struggling to meet basic needs....Read Full Article [Click Here>]

The party also expressed concern about the disconnect between the APC government and Nigerian youth, criticizing the lack of measures to reduce fuel prices, create jobs, or stabilize the Naira.

The PDP warned that the administration’s inaction regarding electoral integrity and attacks on citizens’ rights poses a threat to Nigeria’s democracy.

They urged President Tinubu to engage more genuinely with the populace and reconsider policies that exacerbate the suffering of millions, stating, “The failure of the speech to respond to the cries of millions of Nigerians validates concerns of emerging totalitarianism.”
