The Bauchi Emirate Council has revoked the traditional title of “Mandarin Bauchi” from Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South in the National Assembly.
The decision was made after an investigation into allegations that Senator Umar, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had insulted and criticized Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.
In a press briefing last week, Senator Umar accused Governor Mohammed of diverting palliative items provided by the APC-led federal government. He claimed that supplies intended to ease economic hardship were sold by the state government instead of being distributed to the people.
