A protest has broken out in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, following the alleged shooting of Wakeel Nurudeen Alowonle, Chairman of the Osun State Transport Management System (OSTMS).
The protesters, primarily members of the OSTMS, are calling for justice for Alowonle, who they claim was shot by operatives of the Osun Police Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad on Monday night.
Reports suggest that Alowonle was arrested by the police on Monday for allegedly possessing a police pistol and ammunition. The protesters have blocked the expressway at Aregbe Park, causing severe traffic disruptions. They are demanding the police provide clarity on the circumstances of Alowonle’s alleged shooting and take swift action to address the situation.
