BREAKING: Armed Groups Clash In Edo Over Revenue Collection

Violence erupted in Edo State just a day into Governor Monday Okpebholo’s tenure as two armed groups clashed over control of revenue collection at Ramat Park in Benin City.

This conflict follows Okpebholo’s suspension of all revenue collections, aimed at restoring order and halting harassment by enforcers known as “Lions and Tigers.” However, within hours, armed men engaged in a violent battle, with gunshots heard in broad daylight, causing widespread fear.

Goodluck Osaretin, a PDP member, suggested that this violence stems from campaign alliances that turned local factions into power brokers.
