Tragedy As 26 People Including Bride And Groom Die In Road Crash

In a tragic incident in northern Pakistan, a bus carrying wedding guests veered off a bridge and plunged into a river, leaving at least 26 people dead, including the bride and groom.

Officials reported that the bus was en route from Astore to Chakwal in Punjab when the accident occurred on Tuesday, November 12. Diamer Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sher Khan told local media, “The bus was carrying 27 passengers, including the bride and groom.”

Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver lost control on the Telchi bridge around 1 p.m., likely due to speeding, which caused the bus to plunge into the river below.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his “deep grief over the loss of precious lives in the accident” in a statement on X. He also highlighted the “need to speed up” search and rescue operations for those still missing, as reported by Al Jazeera.
