The socio-political group known as the Collective Movement (TCM) has called on former presidential candidate Peter Obi to consider forming a merger with other opposition parties in preparation for the 2027 elections.
The group suggests that announcing such a merger now would present Nigerians with a distinct alternative in the upcoming election and help to build a unified opposition to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released on Wednesday, Franklin Ekechukwu, founder of TCM, emphasized the importance of opposition parties defining their identities and collaborating. “We don’t have time for delays. If this merger is to succeed, we need to establish a clear, united front right away,” he said.

He further explained that forming a coalition now would offer a strong alternative to the APC and help create public awareness around the alliance. “This is about building credibility, recognition, and a unified vision,” he said. “When we introduce this coalition to the public, we’ll not only attract supporters but also inspire confidence that this new alliance stands for a better future.”
According to Ekechukwu, bringing together prominent figures like Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would demonstrate the coalition’s commitment to change.
He encouraged Obi to consider collaborating with Atiku, whom he referred to as a “national figure” with the potential to unite Nigerians from diverse backgrounds.
