A High Court in Kano State has issued a temporary order preventing the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), and the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) from withholding or delaying the monthly allocations designated for Kano’s 44 local government areas (LGAs).
Judge Ibrahim Musa-Muhammad issued this order on Wednesday following an ex parte application by Ibrahim Muhammed, the chair of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), along with five other applicants. The applicants, represented by lawyers Bashir Yusuf-Muhammad and Usman Bala-Salisu, voiced concerns that any delay or withholding of funds could negatively impact the operations of local governance in Kano State.

The court also permitted the applicants to serve court documents on the AGF, CBN, and RMAFC through substituted service. Other respondents in the case include the 44 Kano LGAs, United Bank for Africa, Access Bank, and six additional commercial banks.
