Continue To Emphasise More In Promoting And Uniting Muslims Across The Country – Saraki, Others Hail Nigerian Islamic Scholar On New Appointment

Eminent Nigerians, including former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, have congratulated an Ilorin-based Islamic scholar, Shaykh Abdulkadir Solagberu, on his appointment as member of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) in Doha, United Arab Emirates (UAE.)

The IUMS was founded in 2004 and headed by Ahmad al-Raysuni to unite the Islamic world across sectoral divides with a keen interest in the sciences of Shari’ah and Islamic civilisation.

Solagberu was appointed to the Islamic Jurisprudence Researchers Division of the influential body of respected global Muslim scholars.

His appointment was contained in a statement signed by the general secretary of the union, Dr Muhammad Ali al-Solaby.

According to its official website, the union has over 90,000 members across the globe.

While Saraki described the appointment as a manifestation of Solagberu’s exceptional dedication to Islamic education and propagation, the Sultan said the move followed the Nigerian’s antecedents in the propagation of the faith.

Saraki, in a congratulatory message by his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, said the appointment was evidence of his scholarly contribution to Islam.

He wished Solagberu a great time in the position, just as he expressed optimism that the scholar would be of huge benefit with his resourcefulness and academic prowess.

In another congratulatory message, the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) lauded the appointee for his relentless contributions to the promotion of the religious and cultural heritage of the community Internationally.

The body charged Solagberu, who is also the proprietor of Darul Kitab Wa Sunna College of Arabic and Islamic Studies in Ilorin, to continue to serve as a role model to others within and outside the Ilorin Emirate.

Similarly, a former chairman of the Board of the Nigeria Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), who is also the Danmasani of Ilorin, Suleiman Yahaya Alapansanpa, described the appointment as a well-deserved honour.

Alapansanpa equally congratulated the governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on the recognition granted to a distinguished citizen of the state.
