Senator Shehu Sani has disputed the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission’s (RMAFC) assertion that Nigerian senators earn a monthly salary of N1 million. Sani accused the RMAFC of “dancing around the figures” by neglecting to disclose the total monthly running costs for senators.
RMAFC had previously refuted Sani’s claim that senators receive N13.5 million in monthly running costs in addition to a N750,000 salary. However, Sani maintained that the commission only quoted the salary figure without the total running costs.
“The RMFAC specifically quoted the figure of the salary earned by the lawmakers and then danced around the figures for the total sum of the monthly running cost per legislator. Anyway, I can understand their fears,” Sani said in a post on his Twitter handle....Read Full Article [Click Here>]
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has recently criticized the practice of lawmakers setting their own salaries, calling it “immoral.”
