Mourinho’s post-game press conference was dominated by his bizarre rant about the red card he received. He sarcastically applauded the referee.
“During the game, at 100 miles per hour, he had one eye on the penalty situation, and he had one eye on the bench and on my behaviour,” he said via Sky Sports.
“That’s the explanation he gave me. That’s why he is one of the best referees in the world.”
He also appeared to take a swipe at struggling Man United, who have won once in seven matches.
“They got a point against us, not us against them, we played amazing and I told the players if we play like this in the Turkish league then we will destroy everything,” via Manchester Evening News.
Erik ten Hag’s team sits 21st in the Europa League table after drawing all three matches. They have won four matches this season but are a distant 12th in the Premier League.
