BREAKING: Tension In Abia As Gunmen Kill Policemen

Gunmen have reportedly killed an unspecified number of police officers in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning, November 20, in the Ebem-Asaga area at around 7:30 am.

According to The Sun, the attack caused panic, with residents fleeing the area for fear of further violence. This tragic event follows another recent attack on law enforcement in the state. On Sunday, November 17, gunmen ambushed police officers near the Umuahia South Local Government Area Secretariat in Ubakala, killing an inspector who was providing security for a federal lawmaker.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, has yet to release an official statement regarding the latest attack.

In a related development, tension remains high following an earlier assault on a Police Rapid Response Squad (RRS) facility in Owerrinta, along the Umuahia-Aba Federal Expressway. Commenting on the incident, Abia State Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa said, “The gunmen launched a coordinated assault on the facility, causing significant damage and loss of life.”

Residents of the affected areas continue to live in fear as the state grapples with a surge in violent attacks.
