BREAKING: Rivers LG Chair Warns Of Betrayals, Fierce 2027 Battle For Fubara

The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Chijioke Ihunwo, has raised concerns over the challenges Governor Siminalayi Fubara may face in the 2027 elections. Ihunwo described the upcoming contest as pivotal not only for Fubara’s political future but also for the control of Rivers State’s resources and direction.

Addressing the Akpor Unity Forum, a socio-political organization in Obio/Akpor, Ihunwo stressed the need for unwavering loyalty among Fubara’s supporters. “I know that some of the people currently supporting His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara will ditch us before the next general elections in 2027, maybe for some personal and selfish reasons, but I urge you all to remain firm and loyal to my leader because his priority is Rivers State and her people. I plead with you to take the message of His Excellency to the nooks and crannies of Akpor kingdom,” Ihunwo said.

In response, the leader of the Akpor Unity Forum, Chikordi Dike, lauded Ihunwo’s leadership, calling his election victory a reflection of the people’s will. Dike commended the chairman for appointing individuals from the Akpor Kingdom to key roles in his administration and assured him of the group’s continued support for Governor Fubara.

“You have already done a lot for our persons, but like Oliver Twist, we ask for more in terms of appointments. As a group, we are happy to work with you and our dear Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and will always stand firm on his ideals,” Dike said.
