A newly hired house help is on the run after allegedly facilitating a robbery at her employer’s residence in the Ushirika Tower estate, Eastleigh, Nairobi, Kenya.
In a video that has since gone viral, the robber is seen assaulting another woman as the house help watches on. Inspector General of Police Douglas
Kanja confirmed the incident, identifying the victim as 20-year-old Somali national Hakimo Muhidin, a fellow domestic worker who survived the attack.
Kanja reported that the incident was filed at the Starehe police station, initiating an investigation. He assured Kenyans that authorities are actively pursuing leads on the suspects’ whereabouts to ensure justice.
The main suspect, captured on CCTV, reportedly entered the building using a hammer.
According to police, the assailant, believed to be a Ugandan national, reached the sixth floor of the apartment with help from the house help, Everlyne, also from Uganda.
Once inside, the suspect severely assaulted Muhidin with Everlyne’s assistance.
Investigators reported that various valuable items were taken during the robbery, including gold jewelry, an undisclosed sum in Kenyan shillings and U.S. dollars, and four family-owned laptops.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) added that Muhidin bore signs of being whipped, with visible marks on her back.
After receiving medical treatment, Muhidin was discharged and is now recovering at a relative’s home, though deeply traumatized.
Authorities are also searching for the accomplice, who had been employed in the household just three weeks before the incident and escaped with the assailant.
At the time of the robbery, the tenant was away with his children, while his wife was reportedly in India for medical treatment, police confirmed.
A specialized team of detectives has been formed to pursue the case.
