Tonight, the football world will focus all its attention on Paris, where the best in the game from last season will be feted.

It promises to be another action-packed event full of memories, drama and joy when the game’s elite congregate at the Théâtre du Châtelet.

Ahead of the ceremony, Legit.ng breaks down everything you need to know about the event.

The 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on Monday, October 28, 2024, in Paris, France.

The official ceremony will start at 10:45 PM EAT (8:45 PM Paris Time).

The red carpet event will start two hours earlier where the guests will walk in with their family members and pose for photos.

The ceremony will be streamed live on Multichoice (DSTV Channel 223 in Kenya) for sub-saharan viewers.

It will be shown to audiences across the world on the L’Equipe YouTube channel.

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba and French-British journalist Sandy Heribert are expected to host this year’s awards once again.

Ten awards will be handed out at the ceremony: the men’s and women’s Ballon d’Or, the Kopa Trophy(U-21), the Yashin Trophy (Best Goalkeeper), the Gerd Muller trophy (top scorer), the Socrates Award (humanitarian work), the men’s and women’s coach of the year, and the men’s and women’s club of the year.

Vinicius Junior is widely expected to win the men’s award, while Aitana Bonmati is on course to retain her women’s Ballon d’Or. Legit.ng has also done the final 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings ahead of the ceremony.

Lionel Messi won a record-extending eighth crown last year after beating Erling Haaland to the vote. Barcelona striker Bonmati won the women’s Ballon d’Or.
