Motorcycle Thief Crushed by Mob While Fleeing in Abuja

A suspected motorcycle thief was crushed to d@ath while trying to escape from a mob at Gawu in Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT. A witness, Danlami Ibrahim, who spoke to the Daily Trust, said the incident happened on Wednesday around 4:12pm when the suspect allegedly stole a motorcycle from a farm at Mawogi village in the area.

He said the owner of the motorcycle raised an alarm, which attracted some youths at the farm, who chased him as he tried to flee on the motorcycle. He said the suspect, upon approaching Gawu village, crossed the expressway without precaution and was run over by a vehicle.

According to him, the suspect was apprehended alive by the mob but some vigilantes took him from them to a hospital at Gawu Babangida, where he d!ed a few minutes later.

He said the stolen motorcycle was recovered but it was badly damaged.

He said both the motorcycle and the vehicle that crushed him were in police custody at the division.
