Reps Set To Summon Wike, Police Over Killings By Criminals

The House of Representatives yesterday summoned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike; the Commissioner of Police Peter Opara; and the Department of State Services (DSS) Director-General Adeola Ajayi over the deteriorating security situation in the capital city.

There have been complaints of killing by ‘one chance’ criminals in Abuja. The resolution followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Dabo Haruna (APC, Bauchi).

The House mandated the joint committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT), National Security and Intelligence and Police Affairs to invite the trio. Haruna told the House that his aide, Ni’ima Suleman, was killed by ‘one chance’ criminals.

He said Ni’ima was reportedly kidnapped at gunpoint at Banex Junction, Wuse 2, by ‘One chance’ operators on her way home to Jahi District, around 6:15 pm and consequently murdered on October 17....Read Full Article [Click Here>]

He said: “This heinous crime has sent shockwaves through our community, confirming the escalating insecurity in the FCT. “It is our collective responsibility as lawmakers to ensure the safety and security of our citizens.

“In recent years, the nation’s capital has experienced an upshot in the rate of kidnappings and robbery incidents, including ‘one chance’.”
