“I Won’t Descend Into Gutters With You” — Atiku Abubakar Fires Back At Wike

The 2023 presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has addressed comments made by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, who recently asserted that Atiku has been rejected by Nigerians and should exit the political arena.

In a statement issued through his spokesman, Paul Ibe, Atiku refused to engage in a “gutter” exchange with Wike, opting instead to focus on the pressing issues facing the nation. Wike had previously stated,

“You, who have contested and failed woefully, Nigerians have rejected you; therefore, go back home,”

in response to Atiku’s remarks about the rejection he claims Wike has faced in Rivers State.

Atiku’s spokesperson condemned Wike’s comments as mere theatrics designed to distract from the real challenges confronting Nigerians. “Our attention has been drawn to the recent remarks made by Mr. Nyesom Wike, which can only be described as another of his theatrical outbursts,” the statement read. “Ordinarily, we would not respond, but we recognize that silence might be misinterpreted.”...Read Full Article [Click Here>]

Ibe went on to highlight that Wike’s criticisms stem from personal grievances related to his defeat in the PDP presidential primaries. “If he truly believes Nigerians are content with the current state of affairs under the government he serves, it reveals a deeper truth: his priorities lie not with the people but with himself,” Ibe noted.

While Wike appears to be focused on personal attacks, Atiku’s camp is committed to addressing the welfare and progress of the Nigerian populace. “We remain calm, knowing that Nigerians are well acquainted with his antics,” Ibe concluded. “We shall not descend into the gutters where he feels at home.

Instead, we prefer to rise above, maintaining our dignity while others revel in the mud.”
