Millions of Nigerians are facing power outages once again as the national electricity grid has collapsed, marking the eighth occurrence this year.
The cause of this latest failure remains unclear; however, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) previously indicated that the frequent grid collapses result from a complex issue involving various stakeholders in the power sector.
Nafisat Ali, executive director of TCN’s Independent System Operator (ISO), shared this information during a Senate committee hearing in April.
As of 9:00 AM, all distribution companies have reported zero megawatts:
1. Abuja Disco: 0 Megawatt
2. Benin Disco: 0 MW
3. Eko Disco: 0 MW
4. Enugu Disco: 0 MW

The total output currently stands at 0 MW, significantly lower than the expected 4,800 MW.
