The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed that the building that collapsed earlier today, October 14, in the Orile area had been evacuated two weeks prior and was already marked for demolition.

‘’A distressed storey building already marked for demolition has collapsed in Orile-Iganmu. No casualty was recorded as the building had been evacuated two weeks before the incident. In fact, it had been marked for demolition. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Fire Service, Building Control Agency (LASBCA), and the Police are at the scene to ensure there are no secondary incidents.’’
