BREAKING: Governor Approves N72,500 New Minimum Wage For Civil Servants

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo has announced a minimum wage of 72,500 naira for civil servants, effective immediately. Additionally, he has suspended taxes on this amount for one year.

Ododo revealed this decision on Monday after signing the new wage agreement. “The new minimum wage of 72,500 naira should take immediate effect to help civil servants cope with the current economic challenges,” he stated.

This announcement follows President Bola Tinubu’s approval of a new national minimum wage of 70,000 naira for Nigerian workers on July 18, 2024, along with a commitment to review the minimum wage law every three years. This decision came after a meeting between the Nigeria Labour Congress, the Trade Union Congress, and the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
