A 41-year-old Canadian woman, Adrienne Munju, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos for importing a significant quantity of “Canadian Loud,” a potent strain of synthetic cannabis.
The arrest occurred on October 3, 2024, during passenger clearance from a KLM flight arriving from Canada. A search of Munju’s three bags uncovered 74 parcels of the drug, totaling 35.20 kilograms.
In her statement, Munju claimed she was recruited through an online platform to transport the drugs for 10,000 Canadian dollars to fund her master’s degree.

Additional seizures included 100 parcels of Canadian Loud at the Tincan seaport in Lagos, and multiple arrests for various opioid-related offenses in Taraba.
The NDLEA has been actively conducting public sensitization efforts as part of their ongoing War Against Drug Abuse (WADA). Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa praised the agency’s successes in combating drug trafficking across the nation.
