The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially released the timetable for the 2024 Rivers State Elective Congresses, scheduled to begin on November 2. This announcement was made on Friday by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Malam Suleiman Argungu, in Abuja.
The APC recently appointed a caretaker committee, led by Chief Tony Okocha, to manage the election process after the previous leadership, headed by Beke, was dissolved. Although a court ruling reinstated the former executives, the National Working Committee of the APC maintains that it will continue to recognize the caretaker committee, asserting that the court lacks jurisdiction over internal party matters.
Aspirants for the chairmanship and vice chairmanship roles will be required to pay N3 million and N2.5 million for their Nomination and Expression of Interest forms, respectively. Additionally, local government chairmanship aspirants will pay N100,000 for their forms. Argungu stated that forms will be available at the APC’s national headquarters in Abuja. The screening and appeal committee will be constituted on October 18, with the deadline for form submissions set for October 21. The congress for electing state executive council members is slated for November 9.
