The Special Offences Court in Oshodi, Lagos State, has sentenced 12 commercial sex workers to eight months in prison for engaging in prostitution and public disturbance.
These individuals were part of a group of 19 apprehended by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), known as KAI, during an operation in the Obalende area.
The 12 women, who pleaded guilty, were convicted under specific sections of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State. The remaining seven defendants, who pleaded not guilty, have been remanded in custody until further hearings on December 18.

He stated, “the THEMES agenda of Mr. Governor clearly stated the need for Lagos to be habitable for business,” highlighting the deteriorating situation in Obalende.
Cole reiterated the agency’s commitment to law enforcement, asserting that any violators would face the full consequences of their actions.
He also urged street traders and pedestrians to adhere to regulations, warning that non-compliance will lead to arrests and prosecution for endangering public safety.
