BREAKING: SDP Deputy Governorship Candidate Dumps Party Weeks To Election

In a surprising turn of events just weeks before the gubernatorial election in Ondo State, Mrs. Susan Gbemisola Alabi, the deputy governorship candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has resigned from the party.

Alabi’s decision was communicated in a letter to the SDP’s governorship candidate, Bamidele Akingboye, where she stated that her resignation takes immediate effect.

She did not disclose the reasons behind her departure or her future political plans.

The letter, dated October 2, 2024, reads: “In furtherance to the discussion you had with me and the advice you gave me on the morning of Friday 20th September 2024, I hereby formally resign as the Social Democratic Party Deputy Governorship Candidate for Ondo State in the 2024 governorship election. Alabi expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to run alongside Akingboye, noting, “Your leadership has been inspiring and I have learnt a lot on this journey. As I step away, I wish you the very best in your future endeavours.”

Additionally, in her communication to the party’s National Chairman, she remarked on the support she received during her time in SDP, wishing the party “continuous success in its future endeavours.”
