The Edo State Police Command has apprehended ex-convict Richard John Abdullahi for his role in a violent kidnapping and armed robbery that terrorized Ekpoma.
According to SP Moses Joel Yamu, the incident occurred on May 7, 2024, when Abdullahi and his accomplices stormed the home of Promise Ehichoya, abducting him and demanding a ransom of N6,000,000 before his release.
The gang not only extorted money but also stole a variety of items from the residence, including electronics, phones, jewelry, clothing, and the victim’s vehicle.
Following intelligence reports, police operatives located Abdullahi in the Zone C area of Apo resettlement quarters, Abuja. Upon Abdullahi’s arrest, authorities recovered a Beretta pistol with three live rounds and a gold chain and bracelet stolen during the robbery.
Police later found an unregistered gold-colored Toyota Sienna and two motorcycles used by the gang. Efforts continue to capture the remaining suspects and restore safety to the community.
