BREAKING: APC Suffers Major Setback As 1,331 Members Defect To NNPP In Kano

Over 1,331 members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State defected to the ruling New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) on Thursday.

This move, which includes individuals from 11 different wards, reflects a growing discontent with the APC’s governance in the state. The defectors have pledged to actively oppose the APC’s return to power.

Among the notable figures who switched allegiance are Malam Kwa, a former Vice Chairman of the local government, and Hon. Audu Tumfafi, a former aspirant for the state House of Assembly. Their departure underscores the waning influence of the APC in the region.

At a reception for the defectors in Dawakin Tofa, Hon. Hashimu Dungurawa, the State Chairman of NNPP, welcomed them enthusiastically. He praised their decision to join the party and emphasized NNPP’s commitment to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of Kano State under the leadership of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso. “We assure you of equal opportunities in the party,” Dungurawa stated, countering rumors about mass defections from NNPP to the APC....Read Full Article [Click Here>]

He further dismissed concerns about the party’s stability, claiming, “We have checked the roll call of our members and we have not noticed any reduction in our numerical strength.” Dungurawa also warned against individuals attempting to exploit the situation for personal gain, advising vigilance against “419 people coming to collect public funds in the name of decampees.”

Former Vice Chairman Kwa criticized the previous administration of former governor Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, asserting that the area saw little development during his tenure and citing Ganduje’s mismanagement of the party as a factor in his failure to secure a House of Representatives seat in the 2023 elections.
