A group of chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), operating under the aegis of Cross River South Consultative Forum (CRSCF), has hailed the Edo State governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and the deputy governor-elect, Dennis Idahosa, over the duo’s victory at the just-concluded 2024 governorship election in the State.
The group spoke in an interactive session with LEADERSHIP on Tuesday in Calabar, boosting that APC was the only party to beat in the South-South.
In their remarks two days after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Okpebholo and his running mate as winners of Saturday’s governorship poll in Edo State, the group spokesperson, Barr. Eyo Nsa-Ekpo, stressed that with Okpebholo as governor, the state stands the chance to regain its lost glory.
The group’s statement jointly signed by its spokesperson, Barr. Eyo Nsa- Ekpo, Sir Maurice Effowatt, Prof. Emmanuel Eyo, and 11 others, stated that Okpebholo’s victory marks a significant milestone for the APC.

“Equally, we salute His Excellency, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, the Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council for the Edo State election,” they said.
The spokesperson stressed that the success of the APC remains a historical feat, hailing the Cross River State governor for being the first APC governor in Nigeria to produce two party men as governors of Edo and Imo States.
“His exemplary leadership, dedication, and political acumen in overseeing these two campaigns have indeed paved the way for especially this momentous achievement in Edo state,” the statement added.
