Osagie Ize-Iyamu, 2020 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo, has congratulated Monday Okpebholo for winning the state’s gubernatorial election.
Okpebholo, candidate of the APC, won the election with 291,667 votes to defeat his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 247,655 votes. Olumide Akpata, candidate of the Labour Party (LP), came a distant third with 22, 763 votes. In a statement on Monday, Ize-Iyamu said he is confident that the people of Edo have made the right choice by voting for Okpebholo.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations on your well-deserved election as the executive governor of Edo State,” he said.
“This is indeed a significant accomplishment, and I am confident that under your leadership, Edo State will witness a new era of growth, development, and prosperity.
“Your victory is a testament to the overwhelming support and trust the people of Edo State have placed in you. I thank them for their commitment to ensuring this success, and I have no doubt that you will honor that trust by delivering the uncommon transformation you have promised.”

He commended the efforts of party members at the national level and praised the “dedication and tireless work” of Adams Oshiomhole, former governor of Edo and senator representing Edo north.
“I would like to express my profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for ensuring a level playing field for all political parties. This contributed to a free, fair, credible and transparent process,” Ize-Iyamu added.
