Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has raised unsubstantiated claims regarding the citizen-led protests against hunger and deprivation.
At a Council of State meeting, Ribadu alleged that protest organizers had substantial financial assets, including a cryptocurrency address holding $37 million. However, no evidence was provided to support these claims.
Ribadu suggested that political opponents of President Bola Tinubu might be involved, but these allegations align with the government’s previous narrative of political motivations.
Court documents have emerged revealing a federal judge’s order to seize crypto accounts allegedly linked to money laundering and terrorism financing. The timing of this revelation raises concerns about the validity of the government’s claims and potential attempts to undermine the protests.
